About Syracuse Commission Co Inc

Sale day at Syracuse Commission Co draws trucks and trailers down roads that need to be open no matter the weather, and a January storm the week of a cattle sale means the pens and alleyways have to be clear before the first load ever backs up to the chute. The same crew that runs cattle through the ring keeps the snow pushed back from the pens and the lanes between them, because livestock moving through slush and ice is its own kind of trouble nobody wants. Clearing a straight, solid path from the unloading dock to the sale ring is exactly the kind of unglamorous work that keeps a sale day running on schedule. The work extends out to the yards and driveways around Syracuse too, wherever a gate needs to open onto bare ground instead of a drift. There's a particular, working-town satisfaction in watching the lot clear out at the end of a snowy sale day exactly on time.
