About Slick's Strongmen

Each spring the Flint Hills around Strong City burn in long orange lines, and within weeks the blackened ground flushes a green so bright it looks lit from underneath. Slick's Strongmen work lawn care in Strong City, chasing that same green down to the scale of a front yard. The town lies along the Cottonwood River with the tallgrass rolling away to the north, and come June, when the rodeo grounds fill, the whole place puts on its Sunday face. The name promises muscle, and it shows in the pace: mowing, trimming, clippings gone. While the bluestem out on the hills climbs toward waist height, the yards in town stay neat as a show-day saddle.
