Down along Mulberry Creek the fireflies start lifting out of the grass about the time the last yard of the day gets finished, and there's no better hour to be loading a mower onto a trailer. Two Bros 'Moe' runs Salina and the little towns south of it — mowing, trimming close along fences and beds, edging, and clearing clippings so the walks are bare when they leave. Dusk out here is generous: the heat backs off, the light goes amber over the fields, and a freshly cut lawn looks about as good as a lawn can look. The route runs the same neighborhoods week to week, which is how anybody learns a yard's low spots and shady corners. Last stop of the evening still gets the same pass as the first.
