About C & J Welding

Out past Plainville's grain elevators, the pumpjacks that have worked this ground for decades keep nodding through the worst of a Kansas winter, and C & J Welding is the kind of shop that keeps both the oil-field equipment and its own plow blade running through the same cold snap. Snow here rarely stays soft for long; the plains wind packs it hard against fence lines and machine sheds within a few hours of falling. Running a blade down a farm lane or a shop lot and hitting bare gravel in one pass leaves a driveway open for a truck that has somewhere to be before daylight. The shop's own yard gets the first pass every morning, iron cold under a work light long before the sun clears the elevators. Plainville runs on that kind of steady work in winter, iron and ice both, and C & J Welding treats a cleared lane as just another job off the same lot.
