Charlie's Lawn Care

About Charlie's Lawn Care

East of town the old strip pits lie in long dark ribbons of water where the coal was hauled out, and on a summer evening they throw a pink sky straight back up at you. Charlie's Lawn Care works the hours on either side of that light — mowing, string trimming, edging, and hauling off the cuttings so nothing sits in the gutter. Crawford County ground grows a thick lawn when it is given the chance, and a steady weekly cut is most of what a chance looks like. The pleasure is in the last pass, when the stripes line up and the trimmer has caught every post, every meter, every mailbox. Then the truck rolls home under that same water-light with one more yard squared away.
