Along the Indian Creek Greenway the old sycamores hold their pale bark all winter, and after an ice storm their bare limbs go glassy under the streetlights — beautiful to look at, dangerous to walk beneath. Cameron's Snow and Tree works both sides of that problem, clearing snow off driveways and walks and taking down the ice-loaded limbs that nobody should be up a ladder chasing. The trail-side neighborhoods along the creek are some of the oldest in Overland Park, with trees planted decades before the houses around them went up, and they take the brunt of every storm the metro sends through. The stretch before dawn is close to silent, plow lights the only color against gray ice, a branch ticking now and then as it finally lets go of its load. By the time the trail's morning walkers are out, the driveways are down to bare pavement and the widow-maker limbs are already hauled off.
