Bones Rock Yard

About Bones Rock Yard

Kansas keeps its stone close to the surface out here, and any yard in Ottawa will say so by the second pass of a mower. Bones Rock Yard reads that ground and works with it — mowing, trimming, edging, and carrying off whatever a season leaves lying. Midsummer, when the cicadas run loud and heat shimmers over the pavement before noon, the day starts early and follows the shade where there is shade. What comes of it is a lawn with clean borders and nothing stranded on the concrete, the kind of finish a person notices from the sidewalk without knowing why. Franklin County ground is stubborn; a well-kept yard on it is an argument won.
