About Black Oak Lawn Care LLC

West of Osage City the ground rolls into stands of black oak that have marked the old Santa Fe Trail route long before US-56 paved over it, and Black Oak Lawn Care LLC works the farmsteads and yards tucked among them. A Kansas ice storm holds harder in oak country than in open field, the canopy trapping the cold and dripping it back onto driveways long after the sky has cleared, so timing the plow right here takes its own kind of patience. Farmhouses out this way often sit a quarter mile back from the section road, screened by the same oak windbreaks that were planted to break the wind two generations ago, and the lane in has to be cleared before the mailbox at the road ever gets checked. Snow moves across this stretch of county more as a hush than a storm most winters, filling fence rows and ditches before anyone's awake to see it fall. By the time farm trucks start down the gravel roads, the lane to every yard among the black oaks has already been scraped clear.
