Mike's Lawn Services

About Mike's Lawn Services

Seven in the morning is the honest hour of a Newton July. The outfield grass over at Athletic Park is still cool, the grain elevators are throwing long shadows, and the cicadas in the hackberries have not yet started their afternoon racket. Mike's Lawn Services keeps to that early window, moving lot to lot while the dew is down and the blades cut clean instead of tearing. Mowing on a steady weekly or biweekly turn, string trimming worked in around posts and foundations, edges cut true, leaves and clippings gathered up rather than left to mat — that is the list, and it does not need to be longer. Come August, when the yards on the south side go stiff and brown at the edges, the ones cut on schedule are the ones that come back green after the first good rain.
