Mc Pherson Street Department

About Mc Pherson Street Department

McPherson's streets run in the same flat, even grid they were laid out in generations ago, which makes plowing them as much a matter of routine as weather. The Street Department works that grid block by block on a set order, opening the routes into downtown and around the schools first so the town can get moving on schedule. Sand and salt go down on the hills and bridges that ice up first, then the crews circle back through the residential streets once the main routes are clear. It's a rhythm the whole town has learned to expect — a plow blade passing outside before most porch lights are even on. A city that can still get to work and school after an overnight system is the whole point of the work.
