The Lettered Lawn

About The Lettered Lawn

Mowing is a kind of handwriting: change the direction of your passes and the same lawn reads differently from the sidewalk. The Lettered Lawn treats it that way on the older, tree-shaded streets of Manhattan — even passes, alternating stripes, and edges cut sharp along walks and drives so every line has a margin around it. Trimming around trunks, posts and mailboxes is done by hand wherever a deck cannot reach. Cleanups, mulch and overseeding keep the page clean between visits, spring through the last cut of the year. There is real satisfaction in stepping back to the curb and seeing a yard that was written on with care.
