Waters Irrigation

About Waters Irrigation

Liberal got its name, the story goes, from a rancher who dug a well on the dry plains and gave the water away free to anyone passing through, mighty liberal of you, travelers said, and the name stuck. Waters Irrigation has spent its working life on the other side of that story, moving water to where a Seward County yard or field needs it most, and in winter the company turns that same attention to keeping driveways and walkways clear instead. The flat, open ground around Liberal drifts unevenly, snow piling deep in some yards and blowing nearly bare in others, so no two driveways get the same treatment, each one is read and cleared on its own terms. Walks get salted where morning shade keeps the ice hanging on longest, often the north side of a house where the sun never quite reaches in January. It's a small irony the crew appreciates, a company built around water spending its winters clearing the frozen kind away.
