Ironwoods Park holds some of the oldest trees left standing in Leawood, their bare branches keeping a hush over the Blue River bottomland long after a fresh snow has stopped falling everywhere else in town. Arntson Thē Arborist works the driveways and walkways of the neighborhoods around that park and along the river corridor, clearing paths through streets shaded by trees old enough to have outlasted a few generations of Johnson County subdivisions. Snow sits a little longer under that kind of canopy, dropping in clumps off high limbs well after the open cul-de-sacs nearby have already melted clear. The crew works those shaded blocks with real patience, plowing and shoveling and going back for the ice that the tree cover refuses to release. A cleared driveway here, ringed in that much old growth, feels almost like its own small clearing in the woods.
