South of 31st Street the Baker Wetlands go brown and quiet in February, and a red-tailed hawk will hold a fence post out there for an hour, reading the ground before it moves. Talon Lawn Care takes the same approach to a property: look it over, then work it. The first cuts come in late March when the fescue finally lifts, and after that it is a steady rhythm of mowing, trimming and edging straight through the hot months, followed by a long leaf season once the pin oaks give up. Weeds get pulled out of the beds before they set seed. The aim is a lawn that keeps its shape from the street, week after week, without the owner ever having to think about it.
