About Schendel Lawn & Landscape

On the west side of Lawrence the subdivisions run out toward the Clinton hills, and the lawns get wide — long stretches of fescue with nothing to interrupt the mower. Schendel Lawn & Landscape cuts those, and keeps an eye west, because in Kansas the weather announces itself an hour ahead: a dark shelf of cloud stacking up over the ridge, the air going still, the wind swinging around hard. The crew works in front of it, finishing the cut, the trim and the edge, clearing the drive while the first thunder is still a rumor. Beds get mulched in spring, shrubs shaped through summer, leaves hauled off in fall. The storm crosses over and rolls east, and the lawn stands there dark and even, holding the rain like it was meant to.
