About PB Land Management

The limestone bluffs of the Flint Hills rise just west of Junction City, tallgrass country that PB Land Management spends spring and fall managing with fire and machinery both, reading how wind moves across open range one season and how it moves snow across the same ground the next. Milford Lake sits north of town holding back whatever the spring rains send down, and the properties around its shoreline catch drifting snow the same way they catch spring runoff — in the low draws first, then the flat ground behind them. That knowledge of how this particular landscape handles weather carries straight into winter driveway and lot work: knowing which lane will drift shut against a bluff's wind shadow, which flat yard clears itself with hardly any help at all. The crew opens driveways along the county roads west of town, then works into the housing developments closer in, clearing what the wind piled against garage doors and fence lines overnight. Under a big Flint Hills sky that can go from clear to socked-in inside an hour, getting a lane open before the next system arrives is the whole job, plain as that.
