About 3D Trenching & Backhoe

Inman sits low against the McPherson County horizon, one grain elevator marking the whole town from a mile off in any direction, and the wheat ground around it runs flat enough that a north wind can turn six inches of snow into a four-foot drift across a farm lane by morning. 3D Trenching & Backhoe spends most of the year moving dirt for waterlines and building pads on those same farms, and the machines that do that work — the backhoe, the loader bucket — turn just as useful against a drift too heavy for a plow blade to push. A farmstead cut off by a drifted-in lane needs more than a shovel; it needs a bucket that can lift the snow clear instead of just shoving it against the shop wall. The crew works farm to farm along the gravel section roads outside town, opening lanes so the propane truck can get in and the pickup can get out, then turns back to clear the yard around the house itself. Out past Inman's last street light, the measure of the job is simple — can the family get to the mailbox and back to the highway, whatever the wind did to the road overnight.
