Grace Lawn Cemetery

About Grace Lawn Cemetery

Autumn comes late and lovely to Howard, the trees of Elk County turning rust and bronze while the grass beneath them holds its color a little longer than you might expect. Grace Lawn Cemetery keeps the grass in hand through that slow fade, taking one more careful cut before the frost and trimming back the growth that creeps across walkways in the fall. This is a county seat of a few hundred people, where a neatly kept lawn gets noticed by neighbors who walk the same streets every day. In the crisp morning air, with woodsmoke drifting over the rooftops, the mowed grass shines with dew as if someone had polished it.
