Kyle's Tree Service

About Kyle's Tree Service

The windbreaks planted along the fence lines outside Hiawatha stand bare through the winter, black branches glazed with ice some mornings and rattling in a north wind on others — the same trees this crew climbs and trims come summer. Kyle's Tree Service knows those properties by their trees, and knows the driveways that run alongside them get plowed the same way every storm: straight down the middle, banked wide enough for a truck to pass. Snow clearing here is driveway by driveway, farmstead by farmstead, working the gravel lanes that thread between the tree rows toward the county road. A cleared lane through a stand of bare walnut and osage orange has its own kind of order to it, the white on either side making the dark trunks stand out sharper. By the time the plow turns back toward town, the fence lines are visible again against an open Brown County sky.
