Riedel Garden Center

About Riedel Garden Center

April in Hays smells like turned soil and cold water, and the cottonwoods down at Municipal Park leaf out right about the time everyone decides this is the weekend to finally fix the yard. Riedel Garden Center works that stretch of the calendar alongside people — mowing and lawn maintenance, mulching and bed work, fertilization, and the seeding and overseeding that thickens western Kansas turf before summer puts it to the test. Growing things on this ground is a matter of timing, water, and knowing what actually takes here. The pleasure comes in mid-June, when everything laid down in April has closed ranks into one unbroken green sheet. A lawn started right in spring carries the rest of the year on its own.
