About Root Spraying Service Inc

Root Spraying Service Inc spends its growing season out along the wheat and oil-lease roads surrounding Harper, and in the cold months that ground calls for a different kind of work — clearing farm entrances and the in-town driveways that depend on those roads staying open. Harper County's farmland runs flat enough that a storm shows itself from a long way off, a gray line moving over ground that was green or gold just months before. The crew clears the outlying roads first, since a farm cut off by drifted snow is a bigger problem than a slow start downtown, then works in toward Harper's own streets once the county roads are passable. There's a practical order to it, learned from knowing which roads flood, which drift, and which clear on their own once the wind shifts. By the time most of Harper is up and moving, the roads leading into town are already open behind them.
