Cottonwoods follow the Arkansas River through Great Bend, and in late winter their bare gray branches are the tallest thing on the skyline for miles. myLawn! Turf & Tree looks up as well as down: turf care underfoot, and trimming and care for the trees and shrubs that make shade possible in a place with so much open sky. Grass grown under a mature canopy is its own problem, thin where the roots and shade compete, and it responds to mowing height, feeding and attention rather than force. By the time the cottonwoods leaf out in April, the lawn beneath them should already be thickening. Trees and turf share the same ground here, so they get worked on together.
