About SCR Tree Services LLC
Trees don't grow wild on the Sherman County plains — every mature elm and cottonwood lining Goodland's Main Street was planted on purpose, hauled in and watered by hand back when the town was first platted along the rail line. SCR Tree Services LLC keeps watch on exactly those plantings, since an ice storm out here does more damage to a limb that has nothing else around it to break the wind. Once an ice storm passes and leaves ordinary snow behind, the same crew works driveways downtown, clearing a corridor of clean pavement between buildings that still lean on those original trees for whatever shade the plains ever offer. Out past the edge of town, where the land opens up and the trees stop altogether, there's nothing left to ice over — just open ground and driveways to plow. The work in town and the work outside it end up looking almost nothing alike, block to block.
