Hitchcock Inc. of Goodland

About Hitchcock Inc. of Goodland

Drivers passing Goodland on I-70 mostly remember one thing about it: the giant steel easel holding a sunflower painting up against the sky, visible for miles before the exit even arrives. Hitchcock Inc. of Goodland works the ground underneath that same wide sky, clearing driveways and lots on mornings when the wind turbines out along the horizon are spinning hard enough to tell you which way the snow is about to move. Sherman County's open plains don't hold snow evenly — it piles against fences and buildings and leaves the open ground beside them nearly bare — so the crew reads the drift lines as much as the forecast. Residential streets near town get cleared first, then the route stretches out toward the commercial lots along the highway frontage. Salt goes down last, after the blade, so a hard plains freeze doesn't undo the morning's work by noon.
