About Grass Roots Lawn Services

Coming into Goodland on I-70, the land rises just enough that this stretch counts as the highest point along the interstate anywhere in Kansas, and the wind up here makes sure everyone notices. Grass Roots Lawn Services spends its summers on lawns that go dormant and pale gold well before winter proper arrives, and once that first real snow comes across the plains, the same crew is out clearing driveways on those same blocks. Goodland's residential streets sit in a fairly tight grid near the Sherman County courthouse, which helps — a plow can make quick, square turns from block to block rather than hunting down long rural lanes. Salt goes down right behind the blade, since a plains wind can refreeze a wet walk in the time it takes to finish the next driveway over. It's quick, repetitive work, done early enough that Goodland's morning commuters barely notice the crew was ever there.
