About Ervin's Tree Services

The oak and hickory stands that ring Girard's old strip-pit lakes hold onto ice longer than open ground does, glazing over first and clearing last, and Ervin's Tree Services keeps a close watch on those limbs every time a Crawford County ice storm comes through. The same trucks that handle storm-damaged branches in summer switch to driveways and walkways once the ice breaks into ordinary snow, working the residential streets on Girard's south side before fanning out toward the timber edges near the old mining land. A downed limb over a rural lane is a bigger problem than snow alone, so the crew checks both on the same pass out past town. Back on Girard's quieter blocks, it's simpler work — driveway, walk, salt — done early enough that the morning school run doesn't have to detour around anyone's truck.
