Pure Green Lawn Service

About Pure Green Lawn Service

On a June evening in Frontenac you can watch a thunderhead stack itself up over the prairie west of town, go bruise-purple, and arrive with an hour of rain that turns every yard emphatically green. That green is the whole business of Pure Green Lawn Service, which follows the storms with mowers the next morning while the ground is still giving. Grass in this corner of Kansas grows hard and fast in the wet weeks, and keeping up means cutting on schedule rather than on impulse — trimming the fence lines, edging the drives, hauling off what a heavy week puts down. There is something worth having in the look of a lawn cut across its width in even bands, the color shifting light and dark as you walk past it. Come the dry stretch of August the work changes character, and the point becomes carrying a yard through to fall with its color intact.
