About APAC Kansas Inc

Long before Emporia's coffee shops unlock their doors, trucks are already out where the Kansas Turnpike's Emporia gate meets US-50, working the ramps that carry the town's morning traffic. APAC Kansas Inc runs the same heavy equipment through winter that it uses on asphalt and aggregate the rest of the year, only now the load is packed snow and ice instead of gravel. A plow blade set right cuts a clean black line across a lot that was solid white an hour before, the pavement showing dry underneath. Ice doesn't hold long against a crew that spends its summers grading and paving the same ground it now clears. By the time the sun climbs over the Flint Hills to the east, the routes into town are open and the lots sit bare.
