Ellsworth Service Center

About Ellsworth Service Center

Along the rail line that runs past Ellsworth's grain elevators, the ground stays busy even in winter, and Ellsworth Service Center clears those lots and approaches first so trucks can keep moving without losing a wheel to a rut hidden under new snow. From the elevator row the crew works into the residential streets nearby, clearing driveways in slow, even passes rather than a single quick push. The old Fort Harker grounds on the edge of town sit low and gather cold air overnight, so drives out that way tend to need a longer look before they're called finished. Salt gets applied only once the concrete beneath is scraped down and dry. Full sun doesn't reach the elevators until midmorning, but the lots and drives this crew cleared at first light are long since done waiting for it.
