ICT Garden Bed Rehab

About ICT Garden Bed Rehab

When a hard freeze settles over Derby overnight, ICT Garden Bed Rehab trades its usual work for driveways and sidewalks, starting on the west side of town where the ground slopes gently down toward the Arkansas River. Rock River Rapids sits closed and frozen over for the season while the crew works the residential streets nearby, clearing the walk first and the drive second so nobody has to step off pavement into a drift to get to their car. In the older blocks near downtown, the work slows to shovel and broom, careful around the edging and beds that will need attention again once the weather turns. Ice tends to hang on longest in the shade behind houses that face north, so those spots get checked twice before the crew moves to the next block. By evening the sky over the flat country west of the river usually goes the color of a bruise, and the streets this crew has already worked are the quiet exception to the ice forming everywhere else.
