Bolen Services

About Bolen Services

West of town the section roads run arrow-straight between Osage orange hedgerows, and come October the light stretches long and copper across the Kaw valley. Bolen Services keeps a week that follows the calendar instead of fighting it — mowing while the fescue takes its second wind, then leaf work when the sycamores decide to let go all at once. Blowers going, trailer loaded by dusk, and turf heading into a Kansas winter with nothing matted down over it. Spring is easier for every lawn that got cleared out in fall; the grass remembers. It is plain work, and there is real pride in seeing it carried all the way to the fence line.
