About Mendenhall Mowing LLC

The old Union Pacific depot on the north side of Concordia still keeps the rail line company, and freight still rolls through in the dead middle of a hot afternoon. That hour belongs to Mendenhall Mowing LLC — cicadas sawing away, shade pulled thin, the deck laying a straight ribbon down the side yard. The work is mowing, trimming and edging, with the drive left clear behind the machine and the grass line held even along every fence. Cloud County summers run long, and the lawns either sprint or sulk depending on what the week's rain did, so the route bends around what each yard is actually doing rather than what the calendar says. Come autumn there are leaves to gather and beds to strip, done before the north wind gets to them in its own careless way.
