About ServiceMaster of Northwest Kansas

Late August in Colby saves its best hour for last: gold light coming in sideways through the cottonwood shelterbelts planted long ago to break the wind. ServiceMaster of Northwest Kansas keeps a mowing route through it, in town and out along the section roads toward Levant, Brewster and Rexford, where the yards sit like held breath against all that open ground. The work is plain and satisfying — grass cut to an even height, string trimming around mailbox posts and propane tanks and porch steps, a border cut in along the walk. Cleanup comes last, so nothing green is left on the gravel or the concrete when the truck pulls out. Out here the horizon does most of the talking; a yard's job is to look cared for underneath it, and that is what gets left behind at every stop.
