West of town the Leavenworth County roads run arrow-straight on the section lines, past hedgerows of Osage orange planted long before anyone laid out a subdivision here. Hartman Contracting LLC covers that spread of ground and the streets in Basehor proper, giving acreage lots and small town yards the same weekly attention. Trimming, edging and clearing clippings off the drive finish each stop. Spring and fall bring the heavier work, hauling off what the wind left behind and the leaves that pile deep in the lee of a windbreak. Out on open ground a tidy place reads for a half mile down the road.
