Dirtwork Contractors

About Dirtwork Contractors

Augusta's high ground east of the rivers still rolls the way it did in the old oil-lease days, and that same uneven terrain is where Dirtwork Contractors puts its loaders to work after a snowfall. Skid steers and box blades push drifts off gravel drives and commercial lots that a shovel could never keep up with. The crew works the terrain the way it was cut a century ago, around old lease roads and berms, clearing wide swaths down to hard ground in a single pass. There's a particular rhythm to running heavy equipment in the cold: engines warming in the dark, blades dropping at first light, snow curling off in waves as the loaders work the lot. By the time the rest of Augusta is stirring, the lots on the edge of town are already clear.
