Out past Fort Wayne's edge, Yoder is little more than a crossroads and a grain elevator rising over flat Allen County farmland, the kind of place where the sky does most of the talking. E-scape works those wide section roads and farmstead driveways once winter squalls sweep in off the open fields, plowing long straight lanes back to barns and back doors. Snow here does not so much fall as blow, scouring bare across the cornfields and piling deep against fence lines and grain bins, so the routes have to be run and re-run through a storm, not just once after it passes. There is a particular satisfaction in seeing a farm lane reappear against all that white, or a rural driveway open again just as a truck needs to get out. It is work timed to an early-rising, wide-open kind of place.
