About Snow Be Gone LLC

Wanatah sits at a rail crossing in the flattest stretch of LaPorte County, wide-open farm ground on every side and nothing much to break the wind before it reaches Main Street. Snow Be Gone LLC works that openness to its advantage, running long straight passes down the county roads the way the land itself is laid out — no hills to slow a plow, no bluffs to catch a drift out of the wind's way. When a system moves through the county, it covers everything at once, fields and driveways and the crossing signals all the same shade of white by morning. The crew clears the town's short main stretch first, then fans out along the section roads toward the grain elevators and the scattered farmsteads beyond them. The freight comes through to find Wanatah's crossing and its driveways both running clear, underneath a sky as flat and open as the ground it sits on.
