April at Rogers-Lakewood Park is all mud and birdsong — soft trails, cold water, and the first real green pushing up out of a gray month. That is when the mowing season opens in town, and J.E. Landscaping starts its rounds. First cuts are the ones that matter: knocking down winter's ragged growth, cutting the walk edges back to a clean line, trimming out the corners, and hauling off what the cold months left behind. Every week after that gets easier, because the first one was done right. By the end of May the yards on those streets look like somebody has been paying attention since March, which is precisely what happened.
