About Tiger Stripe Lawns LLC

The National Road cuts straight through the middle of Terre Haute, the same route settlers followed west two centuries ago, and in winter it's lined with old front yards where a lawn business earns its keep striping grass every summer and clearing snow every winter without much of a break between the two jobs. Tiger Stripe Lawns LLC works those properties — many of them in the historic Farrington's Grove blocks, where wide porches and mature trees have watched a lot of Wabash Valley winters come and go — plowing driveways and clearing walkways before the morning commute crosses the river into downtown. The Wabash runs low and slow past the city most of the year, but a hard freeze can edge it with ice for a stretch, and the cold that does that to a river does plenty to a driveway left uncleared overnight. This crew treats a snow-covered lawn the same way it treats a summer one — worth doing right, one clean pass at a time — and a fresh plow line down a Terre Haute driveway has its own kind of straight, deliberate look to it. By the time the frost burns off a January morning here, the stripe down the driveway is as clean as the one down the lawn ever was.
