About JC Bobcat Services

The lots on South Bend's edges are big — airport parking, warehouse rows, the wide aprons of business parks out past the city's core — and a shovel doesn't touch them fast enough when a real snowstorm drops a foot overnight. JC Bobcat Services runs the machine that does: a skid steer working a lot at first light while the rest of the city is still deciding whether to leave the driveway for later. There's a particular sound to a South Bend snow morning when the plow trucks are out early, engines idling low in the cold, blades scraping down to blacktop in long clean passes. This crew handles the ground too big for a hand-shoveled walk — the loading docks, the fleet lots, the stretches of pavement that have to be open before the first shift clocks in. By the time the sun is properly up over the river, whole acres of South Bend have already gone from buried to bare.
