About Bixler Land and Tree LLC

The wooded ridges that rise up around Scottsburg carry more hardwood timber than the flatter counties to the north, and Bixler Land and Tree spends its year working that timber—clearing what's fallen, taking down what's gone bad, keeping the tree lines along driveways from crowding the road. An ice storm out of the south can glaze those branches solid overnight, and the same crew that knows which limbs are close to giving also knows which driveways sit under them and need clearing first. Snow collects heavier under a full tree canopy than it does in the open, so a shaded driveway near the ridge can hold drift long after a farm lane out in the flats has melted clear. Trucks work the timbered roads above town early, clearing a path under the same oaks and hickories the crew prunes the rest of the year. Come a hard freeze, the woods above Scottsburg go quiet and white while the trucks keep moving underneath them.
