About Babbs Land Management LLC

South of Scottsburg the ground starts to roll into the first real hills of the Knobs country, and the pastures and fence lines that Babbs Land Management keeps clear through the growing season sit right along those same winding gravel roads. Winter turns those hills into something else to manage—snow that slides and drifts on a grade the way it never does on the flat ground north of town—so the crew's summer knowledge of every fence line and low spot pays off again once the plows come out. Trucks work down from downtown Scottsburg past the county fairgrounds and out along the ridge roads, clearing driveways cut into hillsides where a straight run at the grade is the only way up. A gravel lane through pasture ground packs down slick fast once cattle and cold weather work it together, and that's exactly the kind of drive the crew knows to hit twice. By the time the hills green back up in spring, it's fence work again instead of snow.
