Goldys Lawn Service

About Goldys Lawn Service

Parke County claims more covered bridges than anywhere else in the country, and a good many of the roads that lead to them run right past Rockville's courthouse square before they narrow down toward Sugar Creek. Goldys Lawn Service keeps its trucks close to that square through the winter, plowing the lanes and driveways that stay quiet all season until the leaf-lookers and bridge tourists come back through in the fall. Snow here tends to gather first in the creek bottoms, where the sycamores hold the cold longer than the ridgetops do, so the crew learns to read which driveways will ice before the rest of the county does. Mornings start before the square's lights are even on, clearing walks and lots so the first cars of the day aren't the ones breaking trail. It's the same ground Goldys mows every summer, just harder underfoot and a different color.
