About Qflts

The Manitou Islands sit off Rochester's lakeshore, their woods going pale green all at once in the first warm week of April. Qflts opens the season about then, walking a yard to see what the winter did before the mower ever comes off the trailer. Sticks gathered, matted leaves raked out of the corners, the first cut taken a little high to let the grass find its feet again. After that it settles into a rhythm — mowing, trimming, edging, clippings carried off. A lawn brought along carefully in spring will carry itself the rest of the summer.
