About David's Lawn Care, Inc.

Porter sits where the dunes lean down toward Lake Michigan, and the yards here carry a little of that sand in them — grass that comes on quick after a rain blown in off the water, and asks for a steady hand. David's Lawn Care, Inc. works these blocks off the Dunes Highway, mowing in the long June light while the breeze turns the maples silver-side out. There is a real pleasure in the finish: stripes laid straight down the lawn, a crisp edge cut along the walk, clippings swept off so the concrete reads clean from the street. Come October, when the oaks above the Little Calumet let go all at once, it is leaf cleanup and one last cut, the yard put to bed tidy for the cold. From Porter out to Chesterton, Burns Harbor and Portage, the work is plain and it shows — a lawn that looks looked-after every time you pull into the drive.
