About FORTITUDE Snow Service LLC

Portage sits close enough to Lake Michigan that a clear afternoon can turn into a lake-effect squall by evening, bands of snow sweeping off the water and dumping inches in the time it takes to finish one street. This crew's whole focus is that unpredictable window — trucks staged and ready so a plow route can start the moment a band moves through, working driveways and commercial lots near Burns Harbor and the neighborhoods further inland before the next band arrives. Passes are quick and repeated rather than a single deep clearing, since lake-effect snow rarely waits long enough for one pass to be the last. Parking lots get widened at the edges so plowed snow has somewhere to go without narrowing the drive lanes. The bands finally move off back out over the lake and clear skies return to find the lots and drives this crew covers down to pavement, ready for the next one.
