About Yoder Tree Services

Wells County farmland runs flat and wide around Ossian, broken up here and there by windbreaks of tall trees planted generations back to slow the wind off the open fields. This tree service crew knows those treelines from its summer work and carries that same familiarity into winter, plowing the farmstead driveways that run back through the gaps in the windbreak toward the house and barn. Snow drifts differently depending on which side of a treeline a driveway sits — sheltered on one side, scoured bare on the other, piled deep in between. The crew reads each farm that way, clearing the sheltered stretches first since that's usually where the deepest snow collects overnight. By the time the sun's fully up over the flat fields around Ossian, the driveways are open end to end, gravel or blacktop showing clean through the gap in the trees.
