About Owen Forestry and Excavation LLC

The Muscatatuck River cuts a wooded bluff along the edge of North Vernon, timber and limestone bank giving way to the flatter farmland that spreads out from town in every direction. This forestry and excavation crew knows those tree-lined properties well from summer clearing work, and come winter it brings the same equipment to plowing the long driveways carved back through the woods toward the river. Snow gathers deep under a stand of hardwoods in a way it never does out in the open fields, shaded and slow to melt even on a sunny afternoon. The crew works those wooded lanes first, then the open farm drives, reading each property for how the timber changes what the storm left behind. It's a particular kind of winter work, running a plow through country this timbered, and North Vernon's mix of woodland and farmland keeps every drive a little different from the last.
