Benedict Brothers

About Benedict Brothers

In April the Eel River runs high past North Manchester, brown and quick beneath the willows, and the town's lawns wake up all at once. Benedict Brothers meets that first surge with mowing, string trimming and edging, working the corners a mower can never quite reach. There is real satisfaction in the opening pass of the year — the smell of it, the line laid down where grass meets sidewalk. Through summer the work settles into a rhythm around the brick streets and the shaded lots on the river side of town. By late autumn it is leaf cleanup and a last tidying, so the yards can rest.
