Lawn Masters

About Lawn Masters

October turns the sycamores along the old rail line loose, and Newburgh spends a few weeks knee-deep in its own leaves. Lawn Masters takes the last cuts of the year then — a little shorter each pass as growth slows on the bluff streets above the Ohio — and moves into leaf cleanup, clearing yards, beds and curb lines back to bare grass. Through the green months it is the plain work of mowing on rotation, trimming fence rows and tree rings, edging drives and walks until the lines run honest again. Wind comes up the river valley here and undoes an hour's work in ten minutes, which is simply part of the arithmetic. By November the yards lie open and even, ready to sit out the winter.
